I was born and grew up in a small town in the Italian Alps, surrounded by beautiful mountains and natural scenery. Since I can remember, I’ve always been passionate about nature and outdoor life.
Motivated by the love for nature and animals, I pursued a degree in Marine Biology and in 2016 I moved all the way to Newfoundland (Canada) to start a PhD.
In 2018 I met the love of my life, Jerry. In 2019 we were blessed with our first son, Ollie.
Since then, my life has changed quite substantially (for the best!).
What I am passionate about
I love everything natural: the ocean, the trees, all the animals, and everything in between. I love being outdoors surrounded by nature, listening to the wind blowing through the leaves and the birds chirping. I love waking up with the sunrise and settling down together with the sun, I love the passing of the seasons and the majestic rythms of Nature.
I love everything food: I love eating, cooking, sourcing, growing and harvesting my own food. I love spending my days in the kitchen coming up with delicious and healthy meals to put on the table for my little family. I love the smile on my little boy’s face when we bake together and our cake finally comes out of the oven.
I love everything health: I love researching health topics, staying informed, experimenting and observing how different things impact my own and my family’s health. I love writing about this and sharing it with the world to encourage other people to live a healthier, better life.
I love everything simple: I love having less, and living more. I love the simple, slow days around the house. I love making simple DIYs, renovating old thrifted furniture pieces, making my house beautiful with a little bouquet of flowers from the garden. I love gardening, and homemaking, and making my own natural beauty and cleaning products.
My health and well-being journey
After years of struggling with health issues including fatigue, brain fog, unhealthy gut, inflammation, and mood disorders, I started my own journey to become healthier (and happier).
The motivation really grew when I got pregnant: I needed to be healthy for my baby, not only for myself. I started doing my own research about traditional nutrition, natural remedies, and a healthy lifestyle.
I changed my diet, cutting out grains and adding plenty of nutrient-rich foods like organ meats and collagen to my meals. I improved my lifestyle and habits, focusing on being outdoors as much as possible and keeping my body moving. I got rid of most of the toxins in my house, I worked hard to reduce stress and improve my mindset, and I started to really listen to my body and take care of it.
Through these 5 key steps, I was able to improve my health and well-being and achieve optimal health! I became the best version of myself. I found strength and energy that I didn’t know I had, I put an end to my body image struggles, and I found improved ways to manage my stress. This made me a better person, mom, and partner.
It made me healthier and happier!
My newly gained strength and motivation allowed me to complete my PhD while being a stay-at-home mom and even gave me the courage to start my very first vegetable garden, and even my little entrepreneur business, all with the only support of my husband.
People are often impressed with my energy with how much I can get done everyday, and ask how I can manage to do everything. Well, my secret is quite simple: I take care of my health with a natural lifestyle, and a mindful approach to life, and I don’t take myself too seriously!

Curious about my blog’s name?
First of all let me tell you, naming a blog is no easy task. The best names are ALL taken, legit!
That said, the inspiration came from something my husband always says when he wants to sneak out and get some fresh air: “I’ll just be out by the door“.
I’m always joking around with him about this secret place of him, out by the door, which is never actually by the door! Sometimes you’ll find him way back in our big backyard, out of sight, into the woods.
So “out by the door” became a place to take a break, enjoy nature, think, reconnect. It just seemed natural to name my blog after that.
