Delicious and healthy snacks for everyone

Healthy snacks are part of a healthy diet, for both you and your children. Snacks are the perfect occasion to consume seasonal fruit, which might be less digestible when eaten on top of a meal. For me, snacks also need to have some proteins to balance the sugars naturally occurring in the fruit and limit that glucose peak that might not make you feel the best. Proteins also help us stay full longer.

For this reason, I like serving a portion of yogurt with the fruit for a balanced snack. Another great option is homemade fruit gelatin.

Besides adding proteins, consuming gelatin has so many health benefits. From promoting skin and joint health, to healing digestion and helping sleep and mood, gelatin is a real superfood that everyone should consume regularly as part of a healthy diet. Delicious combination of taste

For this particular gelatin, I chose to combine pears and gelatin and use some honey for extra sweetness. Pears are one of my favorite fruit, especially cooked. Pear gelatin is probably the very first gelatin I have ever made, and remains one of my absolute favorites. I love the sweet taste of this fruit, and the interesting texture as well.

After making natural pear gelatin for years, I decided to experiment by adding a note of interesting spiciness. Ginger seemed the best candidate, and I find it goes together perfectly with pears. It balances the sweetness out and makes this gelatin warming and even more comforting. Honey adds a little more sweetness and aroma.

Ginger also brings beneficial properties that come in handy when the cold season begins. Ginger can help fight the flu and common cold, aid digestion, and reduce nausea. Studies suggest that consuming ginger regularly can also help reduce inflammation, risk of diabetes and heart disease.
